Midweek Devotional: You Can’t Keep This Quiet
There’s something about good news that’s hard to keep in. Kids know this better than anyone. Give them a secret and it practically spills out of them. It’s too exciting, too important, too big to hold onto.
That’s what we see in the resurrection story.
When the women arrive at the empty tomb, they are afraid, but they are also filled with joy. They don’t have all the answers. They don’t fully understand what has happened. But they know enough. Jesus is not there. He is alive. And they run to tell someone.
The guards see the same empty tomb, but their response is completely different. Instead of sharing the news, they try to cover it up. What should have been life-changing good news becomes something they hide.
And if we’re honest, we can fall into either of those responses.
Sometimes we feel that mix of fear and joy, but we still hesitate. We worry about what people will think. We hold back. We stay quiet.
But this is not small news. This is not optional news. This is life-changing, world-shifting truth. Jesus is alive. Death is not the end. Hope is real.
And that kind of news is meant to be shared.
So maybe the question this week isn’t whether you know the good news.
It’s this:
Are you living and sharing it like it’s too good to keep to yourself?
That’s what we see in the resurrection story.
