Midweek Devotional: Wanting His Presence

There’s something about remembering that stirs something deeper in us. Memories are good, but they never fully satisfy. They remind us of what was, and quietly make us wish we could have it again.

That’s where this week’s message lands.

At the end of David’s life, Israel looks back and realizes something important. Every good thing they had, peace, provision, family, came from the presence of God. And the thought of losing that? It wasn’t something they were willing to accept.

So they responded.

Not out of obligation, but out of gratitude. They gave generously to build the temple because they didn’t want God to become a memory. They wanted Him near. They wanted His presence to remain with them.

And that’s the question for us.

Do we just appreciate what God has done, or do we actually long for Him to be near in our lives right now?

Real generosity, real worship, it doesn’t come from pressure. It comes from a heart that knows how good God is and wants more of Him.

Reflection question:
Do I desire God’s presence, or am I just holding onto memories of what He’s done before?

See you Sunday.
