Midweek Devotional: Don't Miss What God Is Doing
Have you ever looked back on a difficult season and realized that God was working the whole time?
In the moment, it's hard to see. When we're tired, worried, frustrated, or overwhelmed, our attention naturally locks onto the problem in front of us. We focus on the diagnosis, the conflict, the uncertainty, or the disappointment. Like Peter staring at the waves, we can become so consumed by what threatens us that we lose sight of the One walking beside us.
King Nebuchadnezzar faced a troubling dream and immediately spiraled into fear and anger. His distress became so overwhelming that he nearly destroyed the very answer God had provided for him. While God was preparing Daniel to reveal the dream's meaning, Nebuchadnezzar was busy making the situation worse.
How often do we do the same?
We pray for guidance while assuming the worst. We ask God to provide while rehearsing every possible disaster. We look for answers while missing the people, opportunities, and blessings He has already placed in front of us.
Daniel reminds us of a better way. Even in exile, even with his life hanging in the balance, he believed God was present and at work. That confidence allowed him to pray, wait, and trust.
This week, whatever burden you're carrying, remember that God is not absent from your situation. He is already working in ways you may not yet see.
The challenge is not simply to endure the storm, but to keep your eyes open for the fingerprints of God within it.
Reflection Question:
What good thing might God be doing in your life right now that you're too worried to notice?
